Children

Children have very special eye needs, particularly as the visual system continues to develop up to the age of 8-10 years.

Assesment, investigation and treatment of childrens eye disease can be complex.

At HCEC we have a dedicated team of professionals with our orthoptists trained in assesing children from even the earliest of ages, taking time and consideration for both the child and parents needs.

Dr Manning has trained at the Royal Childrens Hospital, Melbourne, Strabismus Clinic at Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Melbourne, as well as the Pediatric Glaucoma Unit At Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, Manchester, UK. Dr Manning is more than comfortable consulting children, and is happy to treat as needed. Having two boys of his own, he is well aware of the care needed for small children.

Treatment often centres around drops, eye exercises, spectacle wear and in rare circumstances surgery.

If surgery is needed this can be through both the private and public hospital systems.

Rest assured your childs treatment is in good hands.
